Description of the issue: Dark mode switching doesn’t work
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open Brave
  2. Toggle Gnome Dark Style
  3. Nothing happens
    3.1 Border stays bright
    3.2 Content stays bright

Expected result: Dark mode for Brave and website content

Brave Version: v1.57.49

Additional Information:

“prefers-color-scheme” support got introduced with Chromium 114 it worked for a time then not, still works in Chromium

Changing GTK, QT, Default doesn’t do much.
QT changes border but doesn’t make content dark mode, even with fingerprinting disabled.
