Brave glitches and becomes unusable

Description of the issue:
Browser glitches and cuts out when i’m using an interactive map, so far it’s been happening when I use Google maps or Airbnb mapview. This only started after the latest update.

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
Start searching through Google maps or any interactive map like the one on airbnb, use it to search through different results. Screen will start glitching and opening a new tab will have the same glitching effect as well as all open tabs and windows.

Expected result:
Be able to use an interactive map without it messing up or even just not messing up the rest of my open tabs and windows.

Reproduces how often:
Happens about 2 times per day.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):
OS: Mac Sequoia 15.3.1
Brave Version:
Version 1.76.74 Chromium: 134.0.6998.89 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Additional Information:

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

  • brave://settings/clearBrowserData Advanced tab

Time range: All time

ENABLE:

  • Browsing history
  • Download history
  • Cached images and files

Click Clear data


In Brave Browser Settings, DISABLE ALL extensions added by the user. “ALL” means all of them, added by the user ← who sometimes will cling to some extensions, and thus fail to properly test the issue.


DISABLE: Graphics Acceleration (aka hardware acceleration)


8 Steps . . .

  1. Visit maps.google.com
  2. Click the “tune” icon to the left of the http in the address field
  3. Click Site settings → Delete data
  4. Refresh the webpage
  5. Visit airbnb.com
  6. Click the “tune” icon to the left of the http in the URL address field
  7. Click Site settings → Delete data
  8. Refresh the webpage

In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:

brave://settings/content/javascript

Scroll down that javascript settings page to Allowed to use javascript

Click the Add button

Enter [*.]google.com as the site . . . but do not Enable the following:

  • Current Private session only

Click the Add button

Repeat for:

  • [*.]airbnb.com
  • [*.]googleapis.com
  • [*.]gstatic.com

Exit / Quit everything and restart your computer.

Test.
