Brave Freezing Frequently


Description of the issue: Brave will frequently freeze and then take a minute or two before the browser can be used again. Windows says the browser has become unresponsive. Seems to happen with some sites open more than others.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open Browser
  2. Navigate to websites

Expected result:

Brave Version( check About Brave): 1.79.123

Additional Information: This has been happening for the past two or three months on Windows 10.

Do you have any extensions installed in the browser at this time?

Yes.

  1. AdBlock
  2. Password Manager
  3. uBlock

Can you please test disabling them and test to see if the issue still occurs? If it does, can you please then try creating a new browser profile (Menu --> More tools --> Add profile), closing your original profile window, and testing to see if you get the same behavior in the fresh browser profile?

I disabled them and it’s still freezing.

Made a new profile and Brave hasn’t froze so far.

This points to something in your main profile that is causing the issue. It could potentially be a specific website you have installed or an extension – even if it’s disabled – that is causing the freeze.

When you launch the browser (to your main profile), is it launching the previous session’s tabs as well? If so, can you try closing those tabs and then test to see if the issue still occurs? Additionally, you might try temporarily uninstalling your extensions and testing to see if one of them was causing the issue.
