Brave freezes after many minute of use

Brave freezes on my PC Win 11 computer after many minutes of use. Have current version. Need to close app with Task Manager.

What gives? Like the browser, but this is annoying. Help?

I’m glad someone else is like me. I’ve had this problem a while. I don’t want to use another browser.
I use Oracle Linux 9. I use something similar to terminate the application when it freezes – system monitor. I’ve used the ordinary package manager install (as instructed by the website), I’ve used Flatpak, and Snap and it still freezes. After “many minutes” of being online (like you @mblum10209) It freezes after a few hours on average I believe.
I can’t bear the thought of using another browser but I think I’ll have to if no one in the community here can help me (I hope you get help as well.) [2 different OS]

The freezing can happen at any time. Usually hours. Some people are saying it’s due to updates, with me it’s not the case. I hope someone can help and stop us using other browsers when we don’t want to! :frowning:

So there are no answers to this annoying behavior. Love the browser although it is buggy. What a shame.

@mblum10209,
Can you tell me if these instances of the browser freezing are detected/seen as crashes? You can go to brave://crashes and see if any crash reports are generated here and if they line up with the times in which the browser freezes for you.

If that is the case, can you please share the crash report ID(s) with me here so we can take a closer look on the backend?

When I typed that in, I got this: Crashes

Crash reporting is disabled.

Crash reporting is not available in Brave.

I ticked “show developer details” and nothing happened.

@minty can you please go to brave://settings/privacy and under Data collection ensure that Automatically send diagnostic reports is toggled “on”?

Ok, thanks for getting back to me… I’ve turned it on but I hate how I have to relaunch Brave. It’s an ongoing saga I guess.

Well, here’s my crash report.

brave://crashes shows no crash instances. I get no response from anywhere about the crash when it happens. The browser just becomes completely unresponsive to anything. Use task manager to close the program.

@mblum10209 unfortunately that does not give us a lot to go on. This could be simple resource consumption – if you have ton of tabs open and/or a lot of those tabs have demanding processes (streaming video content or running games for example). Could also be an extension(s) that you have installed in the browser.

Can you tell me a little bit more about your current browser setup? Roughly how many tabs you’re using, whether or not you have any extensions installed (and which ones if possible), whether or not you have the memory saver feature enabled (in Brave, Settings --> System --> Performance)?

They are not seen as crashes. The roport doesn’t indicate any crashes.

Good to know – can you check and respond to my last reply?

Another crash report (I’ll make this the last one)
