Brave Failed Update
Initiating the update via the browser results in an error!
Usually, when I click ‘Update’, the browser takes care of everything else.
OS in use is Windows 11, the Brave Browser version that fails to update is 1.75.178: 133.0.6943.98 (official build, 64-bit)
The only way I managed to get the latest update was by uninstalling the currently installed browser and using the Ninite Brave installer. This installs the latest version successfully.
@mubopo thanks for flagging. Is this a new issue or have you experienced this with previous releases as well?
This issue is new. In previous builds, I was able to update through the browser without any issues. The problem only started with this specific build. I’m not sure if the development team has recently implemented a geo-restriction or blocking mechanism.

At least for my region, it looks like Brave has been blocked in my country due to a spat with the revenue authority. The authority wanted Brave to establish a local presence, but Brave had no intention (at the time) of doing so. Given the pressing nature of the issue, Brave appears to have decided to block access to their services altogether.
I strongly believe the crypto features that come with the browser may have triggered this whole situation.
Nonetheless, I think it’s safe to close this thread.
