Brave fails for IRS.gov

Description of the issue:
Brave fails to log in @ IRS.gov website

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Open IRS.gov site and create ID.me 3rd party verification
  2. When returned to IRS note error message preventing login
  3. Open IRS using Google Chrome and complete IDme verification
  4. When returned to IRS note that you are successfully logged in.

Expected result:
Brave should work with IRS - but does not.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.73.104 Chromium: 131.0.6778.204 (Official Build) (64-bit)

@Birk,
First, can you please try updating to the latest build (v1.73.105 at this time) and try again? If it still fails, can you please tell me if this also happens if you turn Brave’s Shields off for the site (lion icon in the address bar)?

Yes, the same problem happens with the 105 version and Shields are up

No - the problem does NOT happen with Brave shields down.

I’ll remember that trick if this problem happens again.

Yeah I figured that might be the case. I’ll have one of our webcompat guys take a look at what exactly Shields is blocking when they have some time so this can be avoided down the road.

Thanks for your prompt reply. It fixes my problem and also let’s the guys at ID.me breathe a little easier.

I’ll leave this Open for a week or so, and close it one way or another after that.
