Brave crashes with any popup on MacOS Sequoia for the past month

System: M2 MacBook with Sequoia 15.3.1.

Brave version: Brave is up to date
Version 1.75.181 Chromium: 133.0.6943.141 (Official Build) (arm64)

Brave shows 50 crashes since February 3 on desktop.

Brave behaves normally, unless an iframe is triggered or a pop-up activitated. This can most commonly be seen hitting “Pay with Paypal” or using a passkey. Due to this for passkey-only sites, I can’t log in on Brave (without using rescue codes, of course.)

I’ve tried:

  • deactivating and uninstalling every extension (Proton Pass, Bitwarden, Privacy Badger, fluffbustingpurity)
  • uninstalling and reinstalling
  • changing all settings to default, with no extensions installed
  • trying in private mode, and in a new profile

Brave and the MacOS are both on the most recent version. I made no major changes to my system or workflow when the problem began.

I’ve been using Brave for years, and I would say it’s only crashed once in all that time, then about four weeks ago this behavior began.

Any advice?

Oh, also, if it’s any help, the most recent crash report is crash ID: crash/836d1200-1c70-750d-0000-000000000000 (but there’s literally 50 of them, and I bet they go back further at least another week)

Following up in case anyone else has this issue: It resolved after six weeks, and I have absolutely no idea why.
