Bug Report — Brave Android Force Closes After Connecting to Solana Wallet
- Device & Version Info
Device: Redmi 9
MIUI Version: MIUI Global 13.0.1 Stable (13.0.1.0(SJCIDXM))
Android Version: 12 (SP1A.210812.016)
Brave Version: 1.79.119 (stable channel)
- Bug Description
After successfully connecting BAT to Solana wallet via Brave Wallet, the Brave app immediately crashes (force closes) whenever I try to reopen it.
This issue started right after connecting the wallet.
At that point, I had not yet backed up the seed phrase, so I am currently locked out of my wallet.
-
Steps to Reproduce
-
Open Brave (v1.79.119) on Redmi 9 (MIUI 13.0.1, Android 12).
-
Connect the Brave Wallet to Solana (BAT integration).
-
Close the app completely.
-
Attempt to reopen Brave → it immediately force closes.
-
What I’ve Tried
Rebooted the phone (normal & safe mode).
Tried Safe Mode, but Brave doesn’t show up (third-party apps hidden).
Cleared cache and force-stopped the app — no effect.
I haven’t cleared app data yet to avoid losing the unbacked wallet.
- Impact
Cannot access Brave at all.
Risk of permanent loss of Brave Wallet contents (due to no backup of the seed phrase).
No Brave Sync had been set up beforehand.
- Additional Info
Installed Brave Beta and tested creating a new wallet — works fine there.
I plan to use Brave Beta temporarily, but can’t recover wallet from Brave stable app unless it opens.
- Request
Please confirm if this crash is a known issue on v1.79.119.
Is there a way to safely extract or recover the wallet/seed from app storage without wiping data?
Will this be fixed in the next Brave update, and can I expect the app to open again after updating?
I would really appreciate any guidance or workaround. Thank you for your help!
