Thanks for reporting @BaconSpartan. We released a new version yesterday. Can you confirm that this is still an issue?

I just downloaded the new version, it works slightly better but still sucks. Now nothing crashes when settings is opened, but Brave crashes whenever I change the settings.

Edit: Just retried it, it only crashes when I try syncing another device.

Edit 2: Only mobile devices. It works fine if I try syncing another computer.

Thanks @BaconSpartan, can you please go to brave://crashes and

  • if you have automatic crash reporting is enabled (Settings --> Privacy/Security --> Automatically send diagnostic reports), please respond back here with the crash report ID
  • If Automatically send diagnostic reports is not enabled, ensure you click Send on these crash reports listed on the page, then reply here with the crash report ID

Thank you.

Is a Crash Report ID the same thing as Local Crash Context? If so, the local crash context has changed every time Brave crashed. Here are the 4 times it happened today, from most recent to least recent:

  • 21852902-194f-4bd3-b0bd-9f28552e791a

  • b2677075-e02a-4f88-87fa-533762f60f6a

  • c94987e1-06a0-4f06-80e5-cb3c4371b6a4

Thanks @BaconSpartan, are the crashes still occurring on the latest version -

I’m afraid so. My crash ID is crash/51450200-2312-8508-0000-000000000000

Hi @BaconSpartan, yesterday we released v1.40.100 which helped to fix several reported crashes. Can you update to it and let me know if this is continuing?

I just updated Brave to the latest version (v1.41.100) and the problem is still occurring. The crash ID is crash/b2cf0400-0d65-8e08-0000-000000000000.

Hi @BaconSpartan, yesterday morning we release 1.42. Let me know if this does not resolve your issue. Thank you.

Still no cigar. The Crash Report ID is d2020100-efc0-a008-0000-000000000000 and the Local Crash Context is 74ee1be2-7114-4473-8fe3-6d6e1228aa1f.

I too am experiencing this same issue. Happy to also gather a crash report ID and context if that is helpful!

Thanks, that would be great. We do have a fix on the way for the browser crashing due to speed reader Will be out this coming week but doesn’t sound related to your issue @BaconSpartan, which is sync related. CCing my colleague @Mattches.

@spartan21 @BaconSpartan,
Can you try creating a new profile in the browser and test to see if the browser crashes the same way when using the new profile and navigating to or changing any settings? Ensure that you only have one window open (the one with the new profile) when performing this test.

Hi, I am having the same issue on the following version: 1.43.89 Chromium: 105.0.5195.102 (Official Build) (64-bit), my OS is windows 11.

Hi @Babygrande

Is your issue resolved by the solution below?

UPdated Brave this morning and now it quits each time i open it. Mac OS 10.15.7. Also started doing this on and off a few months ago and just got worse. Now its kinda useless to me

Hi @Mcretten sorry to hear that you’ve been having issues with the browser.

Just to confirm, did you try the troubleshoot solution I shared above?
There is another workaround with resetting your brave://flags if you are unable to launch Brave. See instructions below.
Do let me know if this works out for you.
