Brave continues to nag me about not being the default browser

Description of the issue:
Brave has started whining that it is not the default browser with an intrusive bar at the top of every page. It also adds a “Set Brave as your default browser” item at the top of the hamburger menu.

There is no “never show me this again button”. There is no option to disable this in Settings.

BRAVE NEEDS TO LEARN THAT IT IS NOT, AND NEVER WILL BE, THE DEFAULT BROWSER, AND THAT IT SHOULD GET OVER IT AND SHUT UP ABOUT IT.

Brave will never be the default browser on my Mac. But Brave is currently moving towards becoming uninstalled, because I will not be nagged. Either Brave accepts its status and shuts up about it, or it is gone.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Configure a browser other than Brave to be the default browser
  2. Apply the fixes listed in the link below
  3. Update Brave to 1.76.73

Expected result:
Brave does not display a bar whining that it not the default browser. There is no “Set Brave as your default browser” at the top of the hamburger menu.

There is an option in the Settings to “remind me if Brave is not the default browser”. It can be turned off, and if so, it stays off without any further attempts to persuade me to turn it on or make Brave the default browser.

Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.76.73 Chromium: 134.0.6998.45 (Official Build) (arm64)

What is your OS name and version?

Your macOS version would be helpful here. Additionally, I do not have Brave set as my default browser, but I do not see any prompt to do so, nor is there an option in the Main menu.

For me, on macOS Sequoia 15.3.2, I see this in Get started:

Indicating that it is not currently my default browser.

The main menu shows no additional button at the top:

How often does the prompt to make it your default appear? Is it every time you open the browser?
