Brave cant load any pages, even UI wont properly load. Feels like a display issue. Cannot access settings.
Ive deleted an re-installed the app. Tried using private tabs.
Chrome browser works fine. Internet is working.
Tried with and without VPN
Mac Mini M4
MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2 (24D81)
Brave Browser version 134.1.76.81
Could potentially be a Graphics Acceleration issue but if the Beta is working without issue then not likely the case – still might be worth a try.
For @1rummage you’re welcome to continue using the Beta if you’d like. If you want to try and continue troubleshooting your Brave stable install, can you try launching it from the Terminal using the following command?
open -a "Brave Browser" --args --disable-gpu
For @kaosgds you can try running a similar command from the Windows terminal to check and see if this is what is causing the issue for you. In the Windows Terminal, try typing the following command and hitting Enter after:
You mean that when you entered that command in the Windows cmd or powershell nothing actually happened? Or did the browser launch and display the same way?
@godofwar no, we’re just narrowing down what the cause is. What you should be able to do is launch the browser via the Terminal as mentioned above, then when the browser launches successfully, go to Settings --> System and make sure the Use graphics acceleration when available option is toggled “off” then relaunch the browser.
Also having this issue on Arch Linux from the flathub install.
System Monitor shows that it is using a bunch of CPU cycles, but no disk read/write is occuring.
It’s just standing there… innocously!
Update 1:
–args --disable-gpu doesn’t fix it either.
Update 2:
installed beta branch of brave, it doesn’t work either.
Update 3:
running the beta branch with --args --disable-gpu AND with GPU acceleration disabled through flatseal (for good measure) also doesn’t fix it.
Update 4:
Brave wasn’t loading anything on startup at all, just a single new tab.
Through trial and error of deleting files in BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default one-by-one, I found that deleting “Preferences” would fix the issue.
After deleting Preferences the previous session’s tabs will load successfully.
first time i did it i got an error that it couldn’t find the path. that was because i had tried the beta so fixed that and when i ran the command again nothing happened. the browser didn’t launch except from the shortcut on the taskbar and still just a blank page.
reinstalled the current version and getting this error when i try to open a page
Error code: STATUS_INVALID_IMAGE_HASH
Still completely broken, deleting preferences was only a temporary fix.
Tried both beta and stable release with many different options, NONE of them work.
This browser is completely f*cked.
In my many attempts to fix it, I’ve lost my entire browsing session with 4000+ tabs.
Extremely disappointed. This is the third day of this issue.
Congratulations, you’re making Windows Recall sound like a good idea. ( That’s sarcasm, Windows Recall is an IT security nightmare. Do not use it. )
@JLHack7 you’re saying that any time you delete your Preferences file the browser works normally? If that is the case, did you have to do this on first install when you tested Beta and launched it?
