Brave Browser stops downloading and requires a HARD REBOOT to reset

I am using brave browser Version 1.75.181 Chromium: 133.0.6943.141 (Official Build) (64-bit)

The browser works just fine but will hang on downloads out of nowhere. I can cancel the download close the browser and but then it will no longer work as it won’t reopen. Going into task manager shows that it’s running in the background and will not close even if you force kill it with task manager or cmd taskkill.

If you try signout the computer hangs, if you go to reboot the computer hangs. The only way to get the browser to work again is to HARD BOOT the PC. This is unacceptable. I have used your browser for years without issue. What in the world is going on as hard resets is not a fix and can mess up many things outside of a janky browser.

Test issue by disabling ALL extensions.

Test issue by disabling anti-virus.

Compare download performance with other browser on the computer.

Create a new folder “Download_SPCL” at:

C:\Download_SPCL\

and test downloading to that folder.

Does brave have issues saving to a network drive setup raid ZFS?

You can close this ticket it has nothing to do with brave, and everything to do with EEE settings on the NIC. One I made changes to the settings the adapter went from throttling at 52.kb right back up to 15mb.
