The following URL address, is where you can visit and find the most recent, stable (not “Beta”, nor “Nightly”) versions of Brave Browser:
https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/blob/master/CHANGELOG_DESKTOP.md
You would click on the version number (currently “1.73.105”):
The browser will be redirected to another webpage that shows something like (in our example):
Release v1.73.105 (Chromium 131.0.6778.265)
Then, you would scroll down to locate the installer that applies to your computing device and its Operating System.
In your case, you would be looking for the following section of possible installers for the Windows OS (in our example):
You are probably going to select 1 of the following 2:
brave-v1.73.105-win32-arm64.zip
brave-v1.73.105-win32-x64.zip
BEFORE you run the installer . . . try to:
So that you are prepared for subsequent steps:
Clear cookies, cache, history, etc.
In a Brave Browser New Window, go to:
brave://settings/clearBrowserData
Select the Advanced tab
Set Time range to “All time”
ENABLE everything except:
- Passwords and other sign-in data
(Myself, I would NOT make that exception)
(because I would have a backup prepared.)
(In other words, be prepared.)
Click on the “Clear data” button
If you cannot take those steps, before running the installer, at least:
With BB not running, delete the ‘Caches’ folder, and delete the ‘Cookies’ file.
Caches (folder):
%LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Cache\
Cookies (file):
%LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\Cookies
Last tip: ALWAYS perform a full restart of a computing device, before running an installer.
