Brave App Freezing for iPhone

I am a new user here and signed up to report this problem. I was told to start a new topic when I asked how to formally report this on another thread.

Description of the issue:
After switching from Android to iPhone (iOS 18.5), multi-tasking, viz., changing apps causes Brave to freeze requiring a forced close and restart. To quote another user: “If I quickly change to another app, even if for a second, when I come back it is frozen and I have reset it again. As brave is my main iOS browser this is awful.”

Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.

  1. Open Brave
  2. Go to a website.
  3. Switch to another app or swipe up to return to the Home screen.
  4. Return to Brave and try to proceed scrolling, typing, video watching, etc.
  5. Forced restart is required.

Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
N/A (screen freezes but otherwise has no visual anomalies)

Expected result:

  1. Open Brave
  2. Go to a website.
  3. Switch to another app or swipe up to return to the Home screen.
  4. Return to Brave and try to proceed scrolling, typing, video watching, etc.
  5. Brave is functional.

Reproduces how often:
At least 80% reproducible.

Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave page in the main menu):

iOS 18.5 on iPhone 16 Pro.

Can you please provide the following information?

  • Are you using Brave Sync at this time?
  • Can you share roughly how many bookmarks do you have?
  • Roughly how many tabs you have open?
  • Does the hang happen when you switch over and a particular website is active/opened? Or happens no matter the website/tab?
  • Are you using a particular feature in Brave when they switch over that could be causing the issue?
