Brave Android: view URLs in history

hi. why we cant dee the exact URLs in the Browser history??
This should be possible.

@Clemens.Ratte-Polle because there’s generally no need for it. This is something inherited more from chromium in general. Generally you see the key part of the site in the description and then the base website of what you had.

Say for instance below is screenshot from Desktop:

It shows me the category or topic names as well as the base website. Why would they need to show https://community.brave.com/t/brave-android-view-urls-in-history/585851 there? It does you no good to see it.

And if wanting to look from my iPhone:

History listed

Press and hold to be able to copy link, which I can share/paste somewhere.

Tell me, what benefit at all would you have by them hogging up space to show you the entire URL?

it is necessary because eg on Facebook you can not see no exact title, as i showed on screenshot.
Shall it vanish on Desktop?
Why not? Why does ist exist in Desktop Browser then?
It is useful for many others than you.

I have many groups and open tabs.
So when i open a link in a tab out of Brave News the new tab stands somewhere out between many groups and tabs and is not easy to find.
As usual in normal pages i want my link to open right next to my actually tab.
This is NORMAL.
Why not in News page?

Please constructive

@Clemens.Ratte-Polle,

This is how it looks on desktop too — the URLs are truncated to only show the site at the top level, as shown in @Saoiray’s first screenshot in his reply. It looks like only Firefox and Opera show the full URL on the history page — and even then, the full URL is cut off due to page width, so you still can’t really see the full URL.

The title of the page is still shown which should be enough of an indicator of which page each link points to. I can raise this to the team but I would not expect this specific feature to changed.

Not sure I understand — is this related to the first issue with the full URLs or are you raising a separate issue? If it’s a separate issue and you’re referring to not being able to open a Brave News link in a tab group (rather than a new tab), I just opened an issue on our Github to add this feature:

No, not useful.
Eg the Facebook title says not which posting, group, page, etc.
I can not see which Page exactly.
This is a must, because without the history gets useless.

This is the kind of feature that we can ask about I can be very confident that unless it gets changed/added upstream (in Chromium engine) it’s highly unlikely that we will add it ourselves. As I said in my previously reply, it is not particularly typical for any browser to display the history in the way you’re describing so it won’t be added to “keep up” with other browsers and it’s not a very common request from our users, so it likely will not be added due to demand.
