Brave android tab row is on top of android pull-down notification bar

My Lenovo P12 tablet updated yesterday and afterwards the Brave android tab row is on top of android pull-down notification bar with the pull down bar and tab row text jumbled together. It does this in mobile and desktop mode. I’ve totally uninstalled and reinstalled Brave twice and it still does this. The android pull-down bar works as normal but nothing on the tab row can be clicked on or done anything with.

Brave 1.78.99, Chromium 136.0.7103.93

I’m also having the same issue with my p12. Chrome doesn’t seem to have this issue and I couldn’t find anything to modify it

Yeah, I’ve played with every setting I can find that might help. No luck. I’ve also tried every other Android browser and all have something I don’t like. I found two I could live with except both have major problems with YouTube. I want Brave back working right, I’ve been using it for years and like it.

Can anyone here seeing this please share a screenshot of what they’re seeing so I can get a clear idea of what’s going on here?

@Davidml2 thank you for the screenshot. Taking a look here.

Can anyone here seeing this please test this behavior in the Brave Beta app and tell me if it displays the same?

The beta yesterday or the night before did the same thing.

I just installed the beta and the nightly. Both do the same as the current version, tabs over pull down bar.

As I said earlier, after Brave messed up I’ve tried all (or almost all) the android browsers. All except Firefox and Waterfox seem to be based on Chrome (Chromium?) and none of them do this.

Understood. I’m forwarding all of this information to our Android team for review.

I’ve opened the following issue for this on our Github for our developers to review:

Now Microsoft Edge is doing the same thing after I installed it again. Two days ago after Brave started doing this it wasn’t. I just enabled Crome and it’s not, it’s still working right.

I came here and signed up in the community because of the same issue

Looks like we found the issue – appears to be upstream:

The flag they’ve changed can be disabled and we’ve also opened an issue to ensure that it stays disabled until it’s fixed on their end:

For now you can launch Brave on your tablet and go to brave://flags and search for the tab-strip-layout-optimiaztion flag and set it to Disabled.

That fixed it. Thanks.
