Brave android not showing ads when is not in use

On android when I select the option to be receive ads when I’m not using the browser nothing happens

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Go to brave’s settings
  2. Under features, press Brave Rewards
  3. Tick the toggle where it says Show Ads when Brave is not in use

Expected result:
When brave is not in use it should show ads.

Brave Version: 1.29.78

Mobile Device details: Android 11 on a pixel 3

The same thing happens for me too.

Maybe its still under development so, let them get it fixed.

I don’t think it’s that, about a year ago it worked now it doesn’t
