Brave ads not available in Germany (Linux dev version)

Hello, since ads should be available in Germany, i’m wondering why i can’t activate them. In the rewards section i’m getting a message “Sorry! Ads are not yet available in your region.”. Browser and system language is german, i’m sitting in germany and i’m not using a VPS or similar.

Any idea? How is the browser recognizing the region? From the IP? Language Settings?

Browser Version: Version 0.63.20 Chromium: 73.0.3683.75
OS: Manjaro Linux, KDE Plasma

I’m having the same issue in the US, on ArchLinux, Brave 0.63.26.

On my other machine (same network, Ubuntu 18.04, Brave 73.0.63.26) I successfully receive ads, so I’m not really sure how brave is determining my region.

Same here. Located in Germany and no ads shown. IP address is from a corporate network, but all IP test sites show Germany as IP country.

Can you tell us how Brave decides how ads are shown or not or better build up a site where people can see if they are entitled.

Is there a way to request IP whitelisting?

Same issue here, Manjaro Linux with XFCE, running Brave Version 0.63.55 in Germany. Locale is set to de_DE.UTF-8 and I’ve tried several uplinks (all of which are correctly geolocated in Germany).
Has anyone looked into the source to see how the detection works?

Update: I’ve just taken a look into the source code but am not much wiser (not being much of a C developer). It seems that on Linux the locale would be taken from LC_CTYPE, LC_ALL or LANG - but I cannot find any code that converts the string there (e.g. de_DE.UTF-8 to just DE to match it against the list of supported countries).
