Bought VPN yearly subscription, switched to iOS from Android, wont work

Hello,

As the title states, I bought VPN subscription on the Google Play store and then today switched to an iOS iPhone 16 pro max. I am unable to “restore” or add my VPN connection although I was able to add this device to the Sync chain.

How do I rectify this? I have an active subscription through the Google Play store through September of this year as I paid yearly.

Type of device (Desktop, iPhone/iPad, Android phone, etc.):
Old Device; Samsung 22Ultra
New Device; iphone 16 pro max

Brave version:
Account issue. iphone version is 1.77 (99)

Detailed description of the behavior:

@xrptrdpro you would have to link your subscription. Details on that are at https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/13405790544653-How-do-I-add-a-new-device-to-an-existing-VPN-subscription

If you don’t have access to your old Android device but you paid for it through Google Play, you may want/need to create a Premium Support Ticket at https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360003078831 to see if they can help.

Thank you so much for the help!

Actually this does not work. It only seems to give directions if you are changing the same type of device unless Im reading it wrong.

I purchased on google play store on android
I am moving to ios but the settings wont let me add the account.

When i go to brave vpn settings it shows me a splash page telling me how to buy, and the restore option at the top right doesnt work. I just get a popup that says " Error: Unable to complete purchase. Please try again or check your payment details on Apple and try again"

At the bottom i can select "refresh credentials but when i enter my account credentials i get the error “Could not complete your request” repeatedly.

Any additional help would be amazing.

@xrptrdpro What it states is you have to link it to your Brave account. Then you would be able to load the credentials on any device.

If you still have both devices, you should be able to link your existing subscription from the Play Store to your iOS device using the steps @Saoiray linked above.

Alternatively, you could also just cancel your existing Play Store subscription and resubscribe on your new iOS device.

For better clarification:

On Android device, you’d choose to link to your Brave Account.

On iPhone you’d go to VPN and it would show like you can buy it. On the bottom it will have a section that says Already purchased on brave.com? Refresh your credentials.

Clicking that will open https://account.brave.com/ and have you sign in. From there you can hit the button to refresh your credentials or whatever and your iPhone will be aware of your subscription.

I do wish Brave would make it easier to fetch things rather than jumping through hurdles to link it like that, but it’s how it works for now anyway.

Mattches Suggestion:

Alternatively, you could do what @Mattches said but I don’t believe it would refund you for the unused portion. So you’d be losing out of money, unless Brave would be willing to somehow compensate you for it or the Google Play policy has changed since I last was aware. (Well, assuming you don’t have access to the Android device, as otherwise can still at least link it as said above)

Either way, you may want to cancel the subscription through Google Play if you haven’t already that way it won’t charge you again in the future. Then when it’s time to renew, you can do it via the Brave Account or through Apple App Store.
