Starting around 3 days ago when saving or editing a bookmark sometimes the pop-up
editor won’t close and instead keeps on flickering.
Once this happens it then happens every time I attempt to save/edit a bookmark until I restart the browser
I also notice this happening with other pop-up boxes/notifications e.g. the
‘Save Password’ notification / Screenshot box
It seems completely random - everything could be working fine for hours and then suddenly the glitch happens - other times it happens after only a few minutes
Version 1.76.73
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows 10 Version 22H2
Additional note
I also noticed that if I open a Private Window around 50% of the time glitch doesn’t affect it but once it’s been affected then even if I close it and then re-open a new one the glitch persists until I restart the browser
Disable ALL of the extensions that you have installed.
Restart Brave Browser. Test.
Install each extension - alone, no combinations of extensions. Test.
You may find one extension is a cause, or, after having tested each extension alone . . . then testing combinations, a combination of extensions is the cause, or the order of installation that you have had - was the cause.
My own opinion, is that any anti-virus extension should be installed last, and any adblocking -type extension, should be BEFORE that last anti-virus extension.
Create a new Brave Browser Profile for testing
Create a fresh browser profile (Menu --> More tools --> Add profile)
Close your original profile windows (so you only have the new profile window open)
Exit / Quit Brave Browser. Restart computer. Launch Brave Browser - use the new Profile. Test.
I haven’t installed any new extensions in the last year but for future troubleshooting is it
necessary to uninstall extensions in my main profile or can I just create a dummy profile for testing ?
Anyway the problem seems to have mainly gone away after the latest update v1.77.95
Occasionally there’s a bit of lag but the boxes close now
None of the release notes seem to mention it so I don’t know for sure if the problem is completely fixed
