Bookmarks not showing on New Tab while using custom new tab extension

Description of the issue: When i am using the setting show bookmark only on new tab, it doesnt show. I am using custom new tab extension - Tabliss. It works fine without extension but it should also work with extension. I switched from firefox and i had similar setup now its annoying.
How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Use Tabliss browser extension(Or I think any new tab browser extension)
    1. Set the “Show bookmarks bar” setting to “Only on new tab page”

This is how I always remember it working, in both Chrome and Brave. Interestingly, Chrome now shows bookmarks on custom new tab page extensions, and has only an on-off toggle. I would prefer that too.

I mean technically its still a new tab so it should work right. Was using on firefox this way.
Prob new feature request? Hope this gets fixed
