Mouse over the bookmarks causes the text to go opaque black and illegible. A similar thing happens to the download progress boxes at the bottom of the screen although they go opaque grey.
I’ve tried a couple of different Themes but that doesn’t fix the problem.

What Brave extensions do you have running?
Does this happen when nothing bu Brave is running?
I’m running MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 on a 2018 Macbook Pro.
Brave Extensions are Lastpass and Metastream Remote.
Yes, it happens when only Brave is running.

You are using a 4 year old version of macOS. I’m surprised Brave works at all.
I assume you have turned off all extensions and the issue still happens?
I assume you have Javascript enabled in Security, Site Settings.

MacOS 10.12 is still current and supported.
The Brave system requirements are for MacOS 10.10 or later.
