The “Sign in or create an account” page loads but page elements (links, email address field) do not respond to clicks. Nothing can be done other than close the page. I tried clearing all booking.com page history, no help.
I’ve had a very similar problem recently, not just with booking, com site but also with an academy website I use regularly. I’m on macOS too, using Brave browser version 1.79.123, and I noticed some important parts of the site just won’t respond. On Booking.om, for example, the “Sign In” button shows the sign-in page, but the fields (like email or password) don’t work—you click and nothing happens. The same issue happened on the Rosarian Academy site, I could see the page, but buttons and form fields didn’t respond at all.
At first, I thought it was the website’s problem, but when I opened the same pages in Chrome or Safari, everything worked fine. So it seems like this is related to the Brave browser.
I did some digging, and it might have to do with Brave’s shields or tracking protections. Sometimes, these features block scripts that websites need to make buttons or forms work. On both Booking, com and my academy site, when I turned Brave Shields OFF for the site, everything started working again—sign-in fields became clickable, and the pages responded normally.
So, if you’re having this issue:
Try clicking the lion icon in the address bar (Brave Shields).
Toggle Shields OFF just for that site.
Refresh the page.
This seems to fix the issue without clearing history or cookies. Hopefully, future updates to Brave will handle this better, but for now, this workaround helps.
Let me know if anyone else sees this with other websites too!
