Hi,
I would like to block the YouTube home feed on m.youtube.com with brave on mobile.
It is my wish for the YouTube mobile homepage to be completely blank with no recommended videos, like when I use the unhook extension on desktop.
If anybody could provide me with a filter list or rule which will block the home feed/recommended videos on the YouTube mobile homepage, or provide me with instructions on how I can identify the element to block myself, I would be grateful.
So far, I have tried:
I have enabled the default YouTube blocklists in brave: YouTube mobile shorts, distractions and recommendations. The YouTube recommendations list blocks the list of videos on the player page which is fantastic, however on the youtube homepage the home feed is still loading. I believe this is because the list of recommendations on the player page and the list of videos in the home feed are different elements although they look similar.
I’ve searched the web and GitHub looking for filter lists or filter rules that might block the mobile home feed but sadly I think all the rules I could find were for the desktop or older versions of the site as they didn’t block the home feed on mobile. I loaded the mobile site on the brave desktop browser but I was unable to identify the correct element to block as I don’t have enough knowledge to do so. I was only able to highlight individual videos in the home feed and blocking these elements won’t block the whole feed.
The home feed is blank the first time I open the site, but after viewing a video and returning to the YouTube homepage the feed has reappeared. This behaviour doesn’t occur in Safari; no matter how many videos are viewed in mobile Safari, returning to the homepage always displays the “your YouTube history is off” message when signed out - I would be happy to replicate this in brave but I cannot.
I’m using brave mobile on iOS, latest version.
Thank you.
