Blocking third-party cookie logs off sites

Troubleshooting technical issues is much easier when both the user and support agent practice clear communication. For this reason, we have provided the template below for you to fill out with information about your issue. Please provide as much detail as possible so we can most efficiently resolve your problem.

Description of the issue:

Latest update of Brave has the shield (block third-party cookies) logging people off various sites. Turning off the shield for blocking third-party cookies will log you in back to the site. Up until the previous version, I have been using the mobile version of sites with “block third-party cookies” shield up, with no issues.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Login to touch.facebook.com or m.youtube.com via Brave with shields down (or shields up but with third-party cookie blocking off).
  2. Turn on the third-party cookie shield after logging in.
  3. The site will log you off, and present you with the login screen. Despite multiple tries, you are unable to log back in with the cookie-blocking shield on.
  4. If you try to login with third-party cookie blocking on, you will never be able to log-in.

Expected result:
Sites remain active and logged-in despite third-party cookie shield on or off.
