"Block trackers and ads" breaks YouTube watch history

When “Block trackers and ads” is turned on under Brave shields, YouTube does not save watch history or video progress, even when logged in. When all trackers and ads are allowed, watch history works fine, but then I see ads, which is obviously not ideal.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Log in to Youtube
  2. Turn on “Block trackers and ads” in Brave shields
  3. Watch video
  4. Check YouTube history

Expected result: video will be in watch history

Actual result: video is not in watch history

Brave Version: Brave 1.49.122, Chromium 111.0.5563.64

Mobile Device details: Pixel 7 Pro running Android 13

Additional Information: Watch history functions as expected on other browsers on phone & also when Brave is not blocking ads, so it seems likely this is the culprit

The default lists won’t impact youtube history, what lists are enabled in brave://adblock
