Blank space above YouTube home page

Description of the issue:
An empty Blank space above YouTube home page

Screenshot:

Reproduces how often: Always

Brave Version(about:brave): 0.55.18 Chromium: 70.0.3538.67 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Reproducible on current live release (yes/no): Yes

Additional Information: The same doesn’t happen when using the AdBlock extension on Chrome

The space is where a big ad would be that’s being blocked:

I know. And it doesn’t appear if you use AdBlock. Is there a way you can get rid of it without needing to activate AdBlock?

Hi @Egard,

That’s because Brave not implement cosmetic filter yet, IIRC.

For now you can hide it via element blocker. Right click the empty ads slot > Brave > Block via selector

More How to use Brave's "Cosmetic Filter" to block undesired page elements

Thanks
:slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, and you can hide it by activating the AdBlock extension, too.

Do they plan to apply the filter on future versions?

@Egard, YouTube ads reappearing are relatively new (depending on the YT channel you’re viewing). We have an issue open to address it here:

We use many of the same filters as Adblock Plus and other common filter lists. What you’re seeing is a bug rather than a lack of implementation. As @eljuno said, if you’d like to get rid of at least seeing the banner on the site in question, use the Cosmetic Filter.
