Bing New Tab extension - shortcuts to frequently visited sites are hidden

Description of the issue
The Bing New Tab extension for Chrome (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/bing-new-tab/jfpjdnlnlfohijjdaedloghlehphncoo) replaces the standard chrome://newtab behavior with a custom Bing search box, a daily background photo, a carousel of current news items, and eight shortcut links to frequently visited sites, consisting of the sites’ favicons and page titles. Until recently, the extension worked fine in Brave, but as of recently, the shortcut links to frequently visited sites are now invisible and unclickable. (They do exist in the HTML upon examination, but aren’t rendered or are somehow hidden.) The extension still works in Chrome, so it seems plausible that a recent change in Brave broke this (possibly signifying a larger issue?).
