BeatSaver Site Stuttering

Description of the issue: When utilizing the site https://beatsaver.com and attempting to play the videos that show the level maps, the media window that pops up, loads, and plays the video is stuttering/choppy with the effects being played. The music plays fine, it’s just the visual effects being played.

How can this issue be reproduced?

  1. Visit https://beatsaver.com/
  2. On any of the songs listed, press the :arrow_forward: icon to bring up the site’s media player that loads up the song’s map/level.
  3. Once loaded, press play.

Expected result: The animations should be smooth rather than choppy.

Brave Version( check About Brave): Version 1.73.91 Chromium: 131.0.6778.85 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Additional Information: The website used to run just fine and the plugin that plays the video used to play smoothly, but now it’s all choppy. I tested the website in another browser, Firefox, to make sure it wasn’t my PC, and the site plays videos just fine in Firefox, so I’m guessing it’s an issue with the latest Brave build. Might wanna take a look at it. I disabled shields and extensions in case it was one of those, but nope, still choppy.

@Maui_Lion,
Thank you for the detailed report.
Looks like it’s working just fine on my end. Can you try testing the site in a guest profile (Menu --> More tools --> Guest profile) and check and see if you get the same choppyness there?

Ensure that you close your original profile window first before testing (so that only the Guest window is open).

Unfortunately it’s still not playing right in the guest window. I went into settings to look into cache stuff and see if I had cache to clear that might help, but I’d forgotten that I’d set the browser to clear cache when closed a long time ago, so I guess it isn’t a cache issue.

Can you please try disabling Graphics Acceleration in the browser and test to see if this helps the performance? Settings --> System -->Graphics Acceleration

“Use Graphics Acceleration” was turned off, so I turned it on just now, went to the site…and now it’s working as intended!

So maybe that helped it in the end, turning it on. Either that or something else, but I’m guessing that was what I needed.

You’re an awesome help, thank you! If it happens again for some reason we can revisit the situation, but for now…fixed! :heart:

HW Acceleration would be needed for that site, due to the 3D
