Description of the issue:
Videos on gizmodo.com are autoplaying and not asking for permission for autoplay. Other sites are working correctly. The video does have controls and the video can be paused, but autoplay should be blocked and/or ask for permission.
Steps to Reproduce (add as many as necessary): 1. 2. 3.
-
Navigate to an article on gizmodo.com (I’m going from netvibes.com to gizmodo.com via link). An example story is _https://gizmodo.com/san-francisco-orders-residents-to-wear-masks-in-public-1842930675
-
Interact with the page in some way within the first 5-10 seconds. Interaction can be as simple as scrolling on the page or moving the mouse cursor over any part of the page.
-
The video in the “recent videos” section will start playing.
-
Reload the page and keep the mouse cursor over the reload button in Brave.
-
After some time (5-10 seconds), Brave will prompt for permission to autoplay. Note that this took a couple refreshes to get the prompt.
Actual Result (gifs and screenshots are welcome!):
Videos autoplay on the site.
Expected result:
Expect Brave to ask for permission to autoplay the video on the first page load.
Reproduces how often:
Every time on this site.
Operating System and Brave Version(See the About Brave
page in the main menu):
Brave version 1.7.92 running on macOS 10.15.4
