Automatic update problem

Brave won’t automatically update unless i go to about and brave can update itself, already running BraveUpdate.exe (C:\Program Files (x86)\BraveSoftware\Update) but yeah that exe only run in the bg and do nothing.

Happened when saw brave 1.80 update but my brave is still 1.79 and i don’t get automatically update, both brave task scheduler and services files are there so the “update core” isn’t corrupted.

or maybe they are currently only releasing the 1.80 update on github and browser installer and have not released it for automatic updates?

OS: windows 10 21h2 LTSC

Suggest: Disable all extensions that you may have added. Exit / Quit Brave Browser and Restart the computer. Run Windows Task Manager. If braveupdatecore.exe is running constantly, or intermittently running, there may be something that frustrates its objective: completing the Brave Browser update.

Likely opposition: some kind of anti-virus / Internet security process is blocking. Domains (where the hosts are) for Brave Browser software:

  • amazonaws.com
  • brave.com
  • bravesoftware.com (example host: updates-cdn.bravesoftware.com)
  • cloudfront.net (example host: d26tv72ukaktig.cloudfront.net)
