Auto install of browser upgrade on Macbook Pro results in loss of (trashed) scrivener files

auto install (clicked on button displayed) of recent Brave browser upgrade on Macbook Pro (Mojave) results in loss of Scrivener files. Accompanying remarks say that files “trashed” but no files appear in trash folder. See screenshot.

Non-operational remnant of Scrivener file page remains and cannot retrieve Project file by clicking on Project name(s) all of which are no longer high-lighted.

Using backup laptop to write the above comments so as not to change data on disc of affected Macbook Pro laptop.

Thanks.
