Description of the issue:
Two days ago my audio on pluto.tv began to be garbled after the video switched to a commercial. It cleared on a reload or channel switch. It resumed on the next commercial. I switched to the Safari Browser on the same video feed/channel at the same time and found that the Safari audio is not corrupted.
Issue discovered June 29. Issue occurs again today on June 30th.
Hi @Mattches , yes, shields down for this site. I’ve been a longer term user (years) of Pluto and never had the issue until 28th. I’m fairly (but not 100%) certain it happened after I updated the browser via normal update during the same week. Thanks for having a look.
Oh yeah – I just realized I don’t need an account for Pluto.tv so I’m testing on my end I see the exact behavior you’re describing and I did not expect it to sound as terrifying as it does.
The effect sounds like a voice modifier that a killer would use when he phones the police. I’ll go ahead and file this issue.
I arrived at this thread after a Google search trying for days to fix this problem. I don’t use Brave, but I’ll take a look into it now. I stream to my Win 11 PC using Chrome. Same thing after the 29th this problem cropped up. I have an open case with Pluto, but so far nothing back from them.
I tried streaming Pluto TV on Edge and for an hour or so, there was no problem. Then the problem occurred. I thought it was my PC or audio settings. Today I streamed Pluto to my work PC and had the same issue.
Obviously, it doesn’t see to be a problem my PC unless it’s a conflict with a new Windows update.
One thing I have noticed is that during the commercials during On Demand streaming, there is no problem. It’s only on live tv streams.
This is the last Win 11 update:
The most recent major update to Windows 11, version 24H2, was released on June 11, 2025. This update, which includes new features and improvements, is designated by the build number KB5063060 (OS Build 26100.4351). It is an out-of-band update addressing Easy Anti-Cheat incompatibility issues for 24H2.
The time differential from the update to the audio problem makes me suspect that Windows may not be the cause, but you never know. There was a recent issue with a Windows update causing a problem for gamers on the Steam website.
Hopefully, this perspective from a non-Brave user will give you some insight that it isn’t your browser, but most-like a Pluto issue or even a Windows11 issue. I would be interested in hearing back from others using different operating systems - Mac or Linux to rule out Windows as the culprit.
I find it highly unlikely that all or most of the popular browsers developed this problem simultaneously.
Hoping for a quick resolution to this problem so I can get back to watching the Star Trek catalog on Pluto!
Just installed Firefox and there is no problem with garbled audio during commercialswhile streaming Pluto. My earlier assessment that it was unlikely the fault of browsers was incorrect. It’s curious why the problem occurs while transitioning between the program and commercials.
