Audio desynchronizes from videos if I move to other tabs

Hello,

It happens frequently for the audio on YouTube, but also on other sites, to get delayed at one point, and this happens only in Brave, I also tried with other browsers. Can somebody help me?

Same problem, only Brave browser has it

Is this the same problem I posted? Theres a delay, but it keeps catching up, and it depends on if the mouse is over the video window or not. Youtube lagging with dropped frames when interface is visible

Yes it does, but it happens on every site that plays media, not only on YT.

Oh, so I’m not alone having this.

The same issue also occurs on Vivaldi browser:

Anyone can confirm this is a bug from the browser? On Opera and Chrome these issues don’t happen.

@pilis

Do you suspect, that mouse arrow movement, may be a common factor for BOTH:

  • the display issue you have reported?
  • the above ā€œdesynchronizes from videosā€ issue?

It might be possible, but… on the Vivaldi side it was confirmed at the end that there is indeed a bug with the audio not being synced anymore with the video.

Also, on other browsers that rescaling issue doesn’t happen.

You use the term ā€œrescalingā€ . . . and I do not quite understand your usage.

Is the resolution of the display, actually shrinking and then enlarging back to ā€œnormalā€?

No, it’s not the resolution. It’s that jigglying effect you noticed but I don’t really know the correct word to describe it.

I’m not an English native speaker, by the way :))

@pilis

You are OK.

I suspect, that the jiggle is related to a command to readjust the UP / DOWN position of the information displayed, in order to compensate for the mouse arrow position or some keyboard influence.

That might be caused by a tiny bug in the ā€œunderstandingā€ between the various bits and pieces of software involved.

Let’s continue discussion about that on the other topic I made, so we don’t continue the off-topic on this one. :slight_smile: ^^

Still, this issue with the audio desyncing from videos after switching to another tab for like a minute or two it’s super annoying.

Here is a recording which better showcases the issue.

Listen very closely how the audio fast-forwards like two seconds while being in another tab (at 0:14) and when I return to the tab that plays the content. (at 0:25)

@289wk does this issue occur also to you?

I can confirm that I have this problem when watching videos on Runble. Going back ten seconds and returning to the original position fixes it though.

So I’m not alone having this issue it seems.

@pilis

Rarely. But, I am accustomed to computer error and computer failure. Therefore, I am prepared to test and apply some workaround.

Given that my data is backed up, and I rely on Bookmarks (easily saved), but I do not rely on Tabs (problematic), and my passwords are not dependent on any Internet browsing application . . . and I use Private Windows . . .

And, IF using the Windows OS, I create a new System Restore Point after Startup (and sometimes before Shut Down) . . .

Clear all cache, cookies and site data, history, logins . . .

I am prepared to Exit / Quit everything completely (no lingering, running apps in the background ← I use ā€œforcedā€ / ā€œhardā€ Shut Downs of apps) . . .

And, Restart or Shut Down the computing device.

IF a mobile device, I use ā€œforcedā€ / ā€œhardā€ Shut Downs of the device.

After Startup, Test.

An out-of-sync situation, is corrected. (Happens sometimes, with the TV.)

Did you watch the recording above?

This is a bug from Brave, which was also confirmed on Vivaldi.

@Saoiray sorry for tag, I noticed you’re very active here… do you know more details about this issue?
