Apr 18, 2024 is the last time I show receiving any brave rewards

The last time I show receiving any rewards in my Uphold account is Apr 18, 2024 yet each month I earn rewards.

@adtastic short answer is you’ll need to create a Rewards Support Ticket at https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360001302431 so someone from Brave can take a closer look at your account and try to asssit.

Longer answer:

What you’re describing sounds as if your account may have been flagged, which is another word for suspended. If that’s the case, you don’t get any notice and you only find out because you don’t get payments. As you submit a ticket, they review the flag and decide whether to reinstate your account. Either they remove the flag and reinstate your account, at which point you start earning again (but don’t get paid for time you were flagged), or they tell you it won’t be reinstated. If it’s the latter, you can’t earn again and are basically banned from Rewards on your Uphold account. Well, you could view ads but not be paid for it.

It’s possible some other circumstance has happened and it’s not flagged. If that’s the case, they’ll handle it and send out your payment(s).

Wow, 8 months? Shocked you haven’t noticed or said anything in that length of time.

Thanks, I created a ticket. No idea why I’d be flagged/suspended. I don’t do anything even remotely that could incur such a penalty. Also it still says I am earning rewards just not receiving them. So I’d think a flagged/suspended account would no longer earn rewards.

Well, 8 months because I really don’t pay much attention to it (obviously). I’m just super busy with my regular business and it’s pretty much an afterthought. Only noticed it because I did a transaction in my Uphold account recently.

Long ago they used to provide a message saying accounts were flagged. And they also would stop showing ads. But then a little over a year ago they decided to be sneaky about it. So they have the UI show as if everything is working fine, show you ads, and make you think it’s all perfect. But then they don’t pay you. Essentially they put people into Creator Support Only mode but don’t tell them. So we see ads, Brave gets paid, and Creators get paid, but we get nothing.

Supposedly they are going to be revamping that to give some sort of notification again. I mean, I can kind of understand it from one point of them trying to make up for their losses from those who have abused the system by doing this. But on the other hand, it seems unfair to normal users who get caught up in the antifraud.

I just think the way they see it, is they assume we’d seek help the moment that pay isn’t given. If it was a wrong flag, they’d reinstate it and we’d get the missing payment. (assuming we contact right away).

Which is ironic in a way. BAT stands for Basic Attention Token. We’re being paid for our attention, for viewing ads. So paid for your attention but didn’t pay attention, lol. But yeah, it is what it is. Hopefully they’ll be able to look into things and resolve it for you. Do keep in mind with it being the holidays, there may be a bit of a delay in their responses.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Not only does that sounds unfair it also sounds unethical. It’s not like they pay much to begin with. They show me 200 ads, some of which I even occasionally respond to but they pay me peanuts on the dollar. really, even less than peanuts. I always have been an avid supporter of Brave and have recommended it to many. But if what you are saying is true I am rethinking if I want to continue using it.

@adtastic in terms of pay and all, it’s not as bad as we may think. I wrote up a thing about it a while ago which you may appreciate. Can check it out at PSA: BAT Ad Prices Explained (kind of). But indeed am waiting and hoping for them to get prices back up and to find more advertisers.

Also if you have missed the announcements, hope to point out we won’t get paid for 100% of the ads we see. They have stopped paying for house ads. They mentioned this in places like First to know: Some upcoming changes in Rewards 3.0 but then as I often do, I wrote a little thing about it at PSA: Current and upcoming changes to Rewards and Creators - #11 by Saoiray,

What you’ll also notice is that unlike in the past, we no longer can see estimated earnings. It used to be we’d see ads and then it would show how much we should expect. Now that’s gone. What we earn overall is kind of a mystery, unless you want to constantly total it up yourself by checking out what ads you saw in the 30-day ads history and then compare to the catalog at https://sampson.codes/brave/ads/my_region/ of which I have no idea when or if that will go away. That link is done by Sampson from Brave. He does it on his own time and isn’t paid for it. It’s just been his own little personal project made available to us.
