Application launcher for Drive not working in Brave

The Google Application launcher for Drive works fine in Chrome.
But not in Brave.
Google Drive is installed.
The “Application launcher for Drive” extension is installed and enabled in Brave.
I used dev tools and it suggest something’s being blocked; but its not clear what.

Any pointers on getting this working; I need the option to open with local MS apps working.

@McDuck Could you please share the specific version of Brave you’re using and on which OS? Also, does disabling Shields have any impact?

It might help to create a second profile, install the extension but no others, and see if the issue still occurs. This can help determine if other extensions or browser settings are interfering.

Thanks @Saoiray for the response.
So with another profile it works.
I have to assume that either a change I’ve made in the settings or another extension is causing the issue.

Yeah, it’s most likely one of the two. The next step is to start testing by disabling or uninstalling extensions and checking your settings to see what might be different. It can take a bit of time, but hopefully, you’ll spot the issue quickly with some of the initial things you test. Of the two, extensions tend to be the most common culprits.

There’s also a small chance it’s cookie-related, but that seems less likely at this point.

Odd thing is that it’s working in my main browser now…

It may have just been a temporary issue that got resolved in a background update or something. At least am glad to hear it’s working for now. I guess just come back to advise if the issue returns. Otherwise I’ll just mark your last reply as a solution for now so it’s known that it seems like the problem is resolved at this time…even if the solution is unknown.

I’ve not had it working on any laptops so far be it Mac or Windows.
I’ve just setup a laptop for another user and it’s not working.
I’ve compared the settings with mine and it all looks the same.

The odd thing was when I created the 2nd profile on my computer the extension asked to be installed or activated.
I can’t remember the exact wording.
When I followed the same process on the other laptop it didn’t happen.

Rather frustrating…
I’ve restarted the computer and browser and added further profiles.

I added another profile and have the “Error” message.
Seems odd that the extension had added it’s self to a new profile.
On my Brave the extension source shows as added by a third party.
On the one that’s not working its Web Extensions Store.

Both browsers are on version 1.69.168.
Mine laptops on a slightly older version on Windows 11 23H2.
Mine 22631.3737.
Other 22631.4037
I can’t see this making any difference.
The Windows accounts are standard not admin accounts.
Azure AD joined laptops.

@Saoiray any thoughts?

@McDuck what is the error you’re seeing when you click on it?

@Saoiray
as per the screenshot above.
The google extension has been added as a third party.

@Saoiray Do you know if there is a way to force the extension to be installed as a 3rd party extension?

Sorry I went AWOL on you @McDuck. I had the notification and meant to circle back, but failed to do so. I guess short answer is I really am at a bit of a loss on what answers to give. I’m especially concerned in that you said it installed itself automatically when you created a new profile, as this shouldn’t typically happen.

I’m going to tag in @Mattches to see if he can help,. but I’ve noticed that he hasn’t been responsive in the past few days. Most of the people from Support have been a bit quiet this week, not sure what’s going on. With it being Friday, I’d wager perhaps we’ll see them returning after the weekend.

In what way? You can always add CRX files from extensions to Brave. So you’d download the extension file (CRX), would go to brave://extensions, make sure Developer Mode is on, Load Unpacked, and then choose the file where you have the extension saved. It then puts it in your browser.

I know while you’re at brave://extensions you can generally see more details and options for any extension you have as well. You’d just click on Details for the extension.

@McDuck,
In your last screenshot, is that error preventing you from using the extension, or is it just alerting you that the extension was added?
