"Answer with AI" removed from Android! (please help)

As written in the description, the feature of AI summarizing when using Brave search (called “Answer with AI”) is no longer available on Android 14 and 15.
In contrast, it is supported on Windows and iOS.
This is very strange, because a few days ago, it was possible for me to type in my search and let the Leo AI answer to it. The symbol for this is gone, and it seems to be no longer integrated in the browser.

On the latest iOS version, Leo can answer the search as well. So it seems to be an Android problem only.

Thank you, but not what I was looking for. My problem is, that I can’t use the AI to answer my search and that I have to open a chat. That makes the conversations limited in contrast to other device types, because I don’t have the premium version.

Hello, I’ve updated the report above with new information and comparison screenshots. Until now I couldn’t find any answer to my question on GitHub or anywhere else.

I just changed the category, so hopefully someone replies. The problem is still unsolved. Thanks to everyone reading!

As I already wrote in another post, the feature of “Answer with AI” is not available anymore on Android.

Now additionally it is not working on iOS, being strikes and marked in gray.

Basically the issue of “Answer with AI” not being available leads to only having the Leo chat, which is limited in answers and does not give sources most of the time. When this is not fixed, many might leave Brave/Leo AI to use an alternative.

I hope a friendly person can give me an answer on the issue. For more information read my other post I linked at the top. There you can find images and more detailed descriptions. Thank you!

I just checked on my device and it seems to be working for me.

Here are my device and version details:
OS: iOS 18.1
Device: iPhone 16
Brave Version: 1.73.97 (131.0.6778.108) - This is the latest version downloadable from the App Store.

Judging by your previous post the version that you were running was (1.73.91). Have you updated your applications during that time? What version number are you currently running?

@Jonas001 what Shields settings are you using? Are you doing Block Scripts?

Thank you for sharing your experience. I have the latest Brave and iOS version applied. Simple questions seem to work, as I just found out. However, some questions just do not.

I did not change any settings. Block Scripts is disabled. I found out, that the “Answer with AI” feature answers some questions, while it does not on others. Also, it still is nowhere to find on my Android Version 1.73 105.

Here is an image of Windows, when not providing an answer. The bigger problem is still the AI not working on Android devices. The symbol for it is not even visible anymore.

Until now nothing around the issue on Android has changed. On Windows and iOS the function works totally fine. Is there anyone with the same experience on Android 14/15?

@Mattches any ideas? And do you have something to test on?

@Jonas001 may seem obvious but can you please go to search.brave.com on your Android device and ensure that the Answer with AI option is set to Enabled?

If it is, can you then please try going to Settings --> Brave Shields & Privacy --> Content Filters, tap on Custom filters list and ensure that there are no filters here? Or if there are, that none of them are for search.brave.com?

Thank you for answering! I checked it all and I didn’t switch answer with AI off neither did I install any costume filters, it only shows me the opportunity to do so.

Can you please try downloading the Beta build of the browser from the app store and test to see if the Answer with AI option is available there?

Well it’s hard to say, considering on my end, I still see this option on search.brave.com in the current release. But there is still a chance this issue will resolve for you once the browser gets it’s next update
