All My Brave Tabs Gone Mobile IOS

Troubleshooting technical issues is much easier when both the user and support agent practice clear communication. For this reason, we have provided the template below for you to fill out with information about your issue. Please provide as much detail as possible so we can most efficiently resolve your problem.

**Description of the issue: Hello, I just opened my brave app on ios mobile, and I have realized my several hundreds of tabs are gone. I did not know we could sync to other devices, but I turned it on after my tabs were gone in the hopes that it would show up. I still do not see my hundreds of tabs. When I open the brave app again though, on the top of the screen it says “Privacy Hub” and it shows the information about trackers and ads blocked (145K)/est data saved (4.44 GB)/est time saved (2h), and the numbers are still there, so I thought my phone would have saved the data. I also tried to look through the forums and tried every single way I could find so far. I tried updating and its still not showing up my hundreds of tabs. I have enough space in my iphone to accomodate the tabs so Im not sure what happened. Please help, I did not have any of the tabs saved before and I may or may not be crying about this right now haha. If I need to pay for brave premium to get the tabs back I am more than willing to. I have tried to force restart/refresh my phone and the app multiple times and its not working. This did also happen earlier this morning, but after I closed the app and refreshed it, all the hundreds of tabs showed up again. Also when I reopened the app, it did not give me an option to restore tabs. When I opened the app earlier this morning, it gave me the option to restore tabs. Also when I check my brave app space, it says app size: 271 mb, documents and data: 279.5 mb so I was hopeful that the tabs were saved.

How can this issue be reproduced? This issue can be reproduced by me just reopening/opening the brave app on my mobile device.

  1. This issue can be reproduced by me just opening/reopening the brave app on my mobile device.

Expected result: I just need my hundreds of tabs back please Im willing to do almost about anything for them to show up again

You might examine your iPhone settings, in order to verify that your iPhone does maintain a connection to Apple’s iCloud - and, hopefully the iPhone has been backing up to the iCloud . . . that you can use for restoring your iPhone.

Visit apple.com and learn how to restore the iPhone.

Hi! Thank you very much for the advice. When I checked, it has been backing some things to my iCloud, but I dont see the “brave” app at all (like its not even there as an option), so Im not thinking its been synching. Would you have any other advice regarding this matter. I am so desperate Im willing to do anything, than kyou so much.

I have an Android phone. Motorola, which is by Lenovo. My older Motorola would allow me to open approximately 90-110 tabs and then start getting funky. Slowed response times and the “browser not responding, wait or close” Many times I would close Brave. My new Motorola will only allow me to open about 30-35 Brave tabs before it starts getting funky and I’ll get the “browser not responding, wait or close” notifications. If I wasn’t using private mode with Brave, I could recover all of my tabs. Now, here’s the hard part. If you were in private mode, all those tabs are gone. If you were not in private mode, if IOS saved the cache from your Brave browser and it didn’t lose the memory, then you should be able to recover the tabs. But, you’re saying you aren’t seeing the Brave app, which is not good. If IOS lost the Brave app and it’s history, then you won’t be able to recover the tabs. I don’t have an Apple iPhone. If IOS isn’t backing up the browser, which I think it does not do, then the tabs have gone into cyberspace. Please update on the situation.

Hi! Thank you so much for the detailed response about your situation. Only 30-35 tabs is so criminal! Haha jk, I think I am definitely in the wrong for having so many tabs open at once. I was not in private mode. I did try to see if I could use the saved cache to open them. No matter what, it seems like on my IOS phone, it did not save brave to icloud. Like there isn’t even an option for brave to be saved to icloud which was crazyyy. As of now, the only update (I think this will be the last update unfortunately), I was not able to recover the tabs at all. I waited a few days and tried to use the desktop browser/scour the web to see if there are any solutions I hadn’t tried. I do think I lost the tabs into cyberspace. I did have like 6 of the tabs saved onto my history so I at least got those 6 tabs back, but I have added back some of the tabs just by jogging my memory. Therefore, unfortunately, no solution :frowning:

So, you did not try to restore from the iCloud?

Backups to the iCloud, do not include some apps that you installed from the Apple App Store. But the user data may be included in the backup to the iCloud.

During iPhone restoration, some user data (of such apps) is restored from the iCloud to the iPhone, but the apps that you acquired from the Apple App Store, are restored from that App Store - and thereby, the apps are not needlessly taking up iCloud Storage space.

Some of the user data and info that is stored in an Apple device backup at the iCloud, is not accessible.

In other words, you cannot be completely certain regarding some specific contents (of some of your user data) ← backed up to the iCloud, by visiting icloud.com.

The situation, is unfortunately a grey area, where you may decide to take a chance and do the restoration work . . . “and then see if that works” or not.

Based upon what I have found in Apple discussions and articles.

I have found, during a restoration of an iPhone, that my data in the Files.app sub-folders (includes a “Brave” folder) was entirely my own responsibilty to back up by other means - I chose to have that all backed up to a computer running iTunes.

But that restoration work was 4 years ago, and I do not know for certain, now, what - of the Files.app sub-folders contents - may be backed up to the iCloud. Apple’s documentation is not thorough.

Hello! I apologize for the wait in my response. No, I did not try to restore from the iCloud. I mistakenly assumed it was just gone for good. At this point, I don’t think it is worth to restore from the iCloud, because I have new info, and I assume my old iCloud info has been written over with new iCloud info. However, if I do happen to lose all my brave tabs again, I will for sure restore my iCloud and I will reply back with results. I really really appreciate your detailed help and I will update if the backup works the next time I lose my brave tabs!
