Brave new tab ads pop up when using the site himovies.sx. And it’s annoying. Every so few seconds a new tab pops up when I hit anywhere on the screen. And it also happens on watchthebigbangtheory.cc
Hello @jordy - is this occurring on desktop browser, or mobile? Also, could I have you confirm your operating system details (Windows 10, 11, etc) and latest version of Brave (production, beta, etc)?
Additionally, I recommend checking brave://components with a quick run-through to make sure all are up-to-date (clicking will confirm for each). Following this, please re-launch your browser and retry to see if the ads persist.
It occurs on desktop browser. I have Windows 10 and Brave beta.
It seems that it’s solved. I just checked brave://components and hitting each ‘up-to-date’ and the ads seem to have gone.
I’m sorry, ads still pop up in a new tab.
@jordy not seeing this on my end. I’m able to view and use both sites you’ve listed above without any issues or pop-ups. This is using Brave’s default Shields settings.
Can you please confirm what OS, Brave version you’re using as well as what your Shields settings are set to? Additionally, if you can share a screen recording of the behavior as it occurs on your end, that would be very helpful.
I had my shields down on himovies.sx
(What do you want from my Shield settings? And also, do you want the ‘site and shield settings’ under ‘privacy and security’ or ‘block trackers and ads which follow you across the web’ under ‘shields’?
My OS is Windows 10 and my Brave version is beta 136.1.79.07)
@jordy you should enable Shields on both of those sites as Shields block ads/trackers and the redirects you’re encountering. With Brave’s Shields up, you should not have this issue on these sites.
