So two of the sites i frequently visit have started showing adds and notifications when i visit them. It’s almost as if the brave shield isn’t even working, and to get the adds to stop i have to close the tab for the site, stop all cookies, and make brave shields aggressive which in-turn affect common sites like gmail. I’ve sent a report concerning these sites already but nothing has changed. Please find a way to fix this.

Can you please provide some example sites you’re seeing this behavior on? Additionally, I notice you’re saying
If you want to change Shield settings for a specific site, you need to do so via the Shields panel in the address bar:
