An additional request for a password before being able to access either settings and/or before accessing brave shields and privacy.
This password should be different than the devices password.
Several reasons for this feature:
-
Having a seperate password specific for the app allows added security so that anyone with access to the device will not have access to change or view current settings.
-
Family DNS settings can be changed within the app by any user. Parents have the potential to set DNS and not be afraid that a child could change it back. This allows a child more freedom than installing a monitoring app.
-
these settings are not effected by sync therefore having them protected behind an additional password protection would not be redundant.
Additionally, private browsing could also use the app specific password to ensure added security (so that others with device access cannot see). Users could choose which password to use, device or app specific.
