Troubleshooting technical issues is much easier when both the user and support agent practice clear communication. For this reason, we have provided the template below for you to fill out with information about your issue. Please provide as much detail as possible so we can most efficiently resolve your problem.
Description of the issue:
When clicking on any “Add to Apple Wallet” link/button on a website, the resulting error is “Failed to Add Pass. An error occurred while adding the pass to Wallet. Please try again later.”
I have confirmed there is no issue performing the action in Safari.
How can this issue be reproduced?
Go to a website that has the button to “Add to Apple Wallet”.
Click on the button.
Expected result:
When clicking on the “Add to Apple Wallet”, the pass gets added to the Apple Wallet (like Safari does).
Brave Version( check About Brave):
Version 1.78.1 (104)
Mobile Device details
iPhone 16e iOS 18.5
Additional Information:
I searched the community, but it appears any questions/reports about this seem to go unanswered.
Is this on any website at all or only specific? Not sure if you can give any examples?
That’s Apple’s browser and has better integration with Apple services. The bigger question or test here would be if you tried with Chrome? (I’m assuming it will work, but good to test and affirm)
Have you tried turning Shields off to see if that works?
If you go to Settings → Brave Shields & Privacy there’s a toggle for Allow universal links to open in external apps. Can you make sure it’s toggled on and test, to see if you notice any difference?
For what it’s worth, the current version of Brave for iOS is 1.79(124). You may want to update.
Zoo Atlanta’s website to add event tickets is where I tried. I apologize for saying “any” instead of just stating “clicking on Add to Apple Wallet link/button on a website”.
I don’t use Chrome or have that on my phone.
Allow universal links to open in external apps is already toggled on.
According to App Store, there is no update to Brave Browser & Search Engine
Hmm, weird. I’m on an iPhone and as you can see from the screenshots below my Apple App Store shows that Brave is at 1.79, released two days ago.
And then you can see from the other screenshot from within Brave that I’m on the app version. But I guess if you’re saying this not available to you yet maybe some reason it’s staggering out and should be available to you soon then. I’m just not used to it taking this long for it to be available to all

I’m going to have to try messing with it later and see if I can figure anything out. I’ve never actually seen the button anywhere before. So I guess big thing is going to be if I can get access to anything with it so I can see if I can replicate it.
And if you would it still would be nice to know if it works in Chrome. And at least will help confirm whether it’s a Brave specific issue.
Beyond all that I know we’ll have to wait for Mattches or one of the other people from Brave to check in on this.
Hi, I did try it in Chrome (downloaded just to see) and it did exactly what Safari did. It opened the Wallet app and asked if I wanted to add the passes.
As for the update, it didn’t show in my app list as an available update. But, when I searched for Brave in the app store, it showed there was an update.
After the update, I tried again in the Brave browser and it worked perfectly.
