Private tabs now have the option to send information over the Tor network.
If you notice issues specifically related to the use of Tor in private tabs, this is the right place to ask for help.
Please be sure to include your Brave version (about:brave page info), OS, and perhaps what site you were trying to use (if a specific site isn’t working, but others appear to be working fine).
If you open a private tab in Tor, the browser crashes when you type in a string. There are still problems when pinning tabs. For example, when you close pinned tabs, after you restart the browser, they are active again. So not with all sites, but with certain. You need to detach to close at all. Still there are problems with downloading webm download button does not work… Well, just the browser sometimes crashes for no reason, mostly when switching to what some sites from Twitter. Hi there! I have an issue with the Tor Tab.
When I try to download something it appears the window with the error.
I understand that It’s the feature of the Brave, but can someone help me?
Thanks
Because currently the New Private Tab with Tor is just like the “Tor Browser.” Which is really just a modified version of Firefox with a Tor extension/add-on pre-installed. Which I didn’t especially like. Tor for Windows/Mac needs to be a true VPN app, like Orbot. Without controlling which Country is selected, a random country gets selected and a person ends up seeing the Forbidden messages on websites, because the IP is in some Eastern Country.
The one thing I dislike about the official “Tor Browser” for Desktop, is that it’s just a modified version of Firefox with a “Tor” extension pre-installed, and it has no Country selection, so a person can often end up with a “Forbidden” message when trying to visit websites with Tor. And the Same thing can happen with the “New Private Window with Tor” on Brave.
I was using Tabs withTor until a few weeks ago but now always receive the error:
ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED
I’ve followed the troubleshooting suggestions for Proxy settings to no avail.
I’m using Version 0.66.101 Chromium: 75.0.3770.142 (Official Build) (64-bit)
on Mac with OS 10.11.x
Would sure appreciate any help.
It appears that this feature no longer works on Mac? I have tried re-installing it but I continue to get the error message which prevents the new Tor window from connecting to the internet?
Error: “tor-0.3.5.8-darwin-bracve-0” can’t be opened because APPLE cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.

Proxy server is an intermediary server between client and the internet. This error is a browser-based error, which can occur on any Windows OS version when there are some problems with proxy settings. This error means your browser is not able to connect to the internet because of the proxy connection. Either you have invalid proxy connection or configuration of proxy is controlled by the third party.
Proxy server is a medium that connects the home network or IP with the online service / external sites. Proxy does not create a direct connection to the Internet but rather establishes a connection through several servers and, therefore, disguise people’s IP addresses and other browsing-related information. ERR_PROXY_CONNECTION_FAILED because, if the IP / Proxy is configured incorrectly or gets damaged during some system’s configuration procedures. So, first you have to make sure you’ve an active internet connection and try from different browser perhaps.
