A Link to an Article in the Brave news feed lead me to instruction on how to turn off my "Brave Shield"

Just thought this was very odd…

You might have run into that alert, as a result of clicking the search results link . . . and therefore taken a redirect to the website.

My Brave Browser > Shields settings:

  • Global: Trackers & Ads: Aggressive
  • Global: Block Cookies: Block third party cookies
  • Global: Block Scripts: Enabled
  • Global: Block Fingerprinting: Enabled

I used Brave Browser (MacOS) to directly visit:

Result:

In order for various functions of the webpage, to be dynamic/work, I would probably have to adjust Site-Specific Brave Shields settings.

Tips regarding Brave Shields:

I have more success, with:

  • Brave Shields UP
  • Either Allow All Cookies or Block 3rd Party Cookies, but NOT Blocking All Cookies
  • Allowing JavaScripts from specific sources, but NOT Allowing All JavaScripts
  • Trackers & Ads treatment: Aggressive (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting
  • Fingerprinting (aka footprinting) blocking: Strict (at first), and then incrementally relaxing that setting

I almost NEVER use:

  • All of Brave Shields UP
  • All of Brave Shields DOWN
